Project Time: One Hour - may vary due to measuring and cutting prep.
However, one 22"x28" sheet of posterboard makes two pillows!
Directions:
1. Cut your large sheet of posterboard into two 9"x12" pieces (or even 4 if
making more than one pillow)
2. Fold one of the two sheets in half along the long side, making a 4 ½" x 12"
sheet. With this folded sheet, beginning about 1" in from sheet edges, cut slits
½" from each other. Begin cuts along the folded side towards the unfolded end.
End your cuts approximately ½" to ¼" inch from the unfolded end. Try and be
consistent as to where you finish your cut, or use your ruler to be precise.
3. Take the second sheet of posterboard and cut into ½" inch wide 12" long strips.
You will NOT use all of them.
4. Unfold piece #1. Take your ½" wide strips and using an over and under method,
weave alternately through piece #1, using the opposite color. (i.e., with red
side facing you, weave ½" pieces through so that the green side is facing you.You
will end up with a checkerboard pattern.
5. Straighten and align strips; hot glue
unwoven ends down, let sit to dry thoroughly.
6. Starting from a corner, roll towards the opposite corner a few times to make
the piece more flexible. Then form a cone. Use the binder clips to secure the
ends.
7. Hot glue along seam, using clips to hold in place. Let set.
8. Fold bottom of cone towards back, hot glue, clip until set.
9. Fold tulle ribbon approximately in half, thread ends carefully through weave,
starting at the top back of the cone, towards, then through, the lower front
of the cone. Leave a small loop along the back, to use to hang over a door knob.
Fill with small toys, candy, etc., before folding the flap down through the
top of the cone. Hot glue if desired, or slip into weave. 10. Use your computer's
graphics feature to create nametag to tape or glue onto front.
PLEASE NOTE: CHILDREN SHOULD NOT USE HOT GUN WITHOUT ADULT SUPERVISION!
